Raise your hand if you have your own blog. If not, what are you waiting on? Afraid it will be too hard or time-consuming? Not sure how to get started?
What if I told you you could create a blog and have your first message posted in less than 5 minutes? Want to try it?
We’re going to use a blog tool called Blogger. Blogger is owned by Google, which is good news for you since you probably already have a Google account.

Creating a Sandbox Blog
For your first attempt, I recommend that you create a “sandbox” blog – one that you can practice and experiment with…
Getting Started
1. Go to: www.blogger.com
-
2.Sign in using your Google account.
-
3.Click the “Create Your Blog Now” arrow or the “Create a Blog” link at the top-right corner of the page.

-
4.Enter a blog title. The title will appear at the top of your blog. Enter a title such as “Tammy’s Sandbox Blog.”
-
5.Choose and enter a blog address. This is the address that visitors will use to get to your blog. Do not include odd symbols or spaces.
Example: Enter something like “twsandbox” to create a blog address (URL) of: http://twsandbox.blogger.com.
-
6.Complete the word verification and then click the Continue arrow.
-
7.Choose a template that you like and then click the Continue arrow. (Don’t worry – you can always change it later.)

-
8.Click the “Start Blogging” arrow.
Posting to Your Blog
After you click the “Start Blogging” arrow, you’ll be ready to enter your first post.
-
1.In the title field, enter “Welcome.”

-
2.In the body (message) area, enter a welcome message:
-
3.Click the “Publish Post” button at the bottom of the screen.
-
4.Click the “View Blog” link to see your creation!

Note - Now that you’ve created your blog, see if you can figure out how to post additional messages.
In the next couple of weeks, I’ll show you how to do some really cool things within your blog. Until then, just play around with it and see what you can discover on your own!
